Jakarta, dpd.go.id — Vice Chairperson of Committee III of the DPD RI, Dr. Hj. Erni Daryanti, M.Biomed., expressed her support for the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah's (Kemenhaj) firm stance in clearing the administration of the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages from practices that harm pilgrims.
According to Erni, efforts to eradicate practices known as the "Hajj and Umrah mafia" are a crucial part of reforming Hajj governance to make it increasingly transparent, accountable, professional, and oriented toward protecting pilgrims.
"We support the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah's firm measures to cleanse the Hajj and Umrah ecosystem from practices that harm pilgrims. A pilgrimage that should be a sacred journey must not be exploited by rogue actors seeking profit through non-compliant means," Erni stated.
Erni noted that the public complaint channel launched by Kemenhaj, titled "Bongkar Mafia Haji dan Umrah" ("Expose the Hajj and Umrah Mafia"), is an important step to open space for public participation in supervising the administration of Hajj and Umrah. Kemenhaj stated that public reports will undergo inspection and verification before being followed up according to their authority.
"Supervision should not rely solely on the government. Pilgrims, their families, the public, religious organizations, travel organizers, and all stakeholders must be given space to report information whenever they discover suspected violations," she said.
A cleaner, more transparent Hajj system that provides maximum protection for pilgrims.
"This is not merely a matter of Hajj and Umrah travel business. It concerns worship, civil rights, and public trust in the state. Therefore, all parties must share the same commitment: do not let pilgrims become victims. Eradicate harmful practices and build Hajj governance that truly sides with the pilgrims," Erni concluded.
