Yogyakarta, dpd.go.id – The decline in income experienced by a number of business actors was one of the findings in the review of the implementation of the Economic Census conducted by the Member of the DPD RI for the Special Region of Yogyakarta, R.A. Yashinta Sekarwangi Mega, together with the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of the Special Region of Yogyakarta and the BPS of Yogyakarta City, on Tuesday (4/8).

These findings are of concern because they reflect the economic activities of the community which still face challenges and require attention in policy formulation.

"What I highlighted most earlier was the number of traders and business owners who reported a decline in income. This indicates that economic activity has also decreased. I hope the government, together with the House of Regional Representative of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI), can formulate more appropriate policies to help the community, especially those in vulnerable situations," said Yashinta.

In this activity, Yashinta directly reviewed the data collection process carried out by BPS officers on a number of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), including business actors. Toy sellers and curtain makers, as well as traders at Senen Market in Yogyakarta City. In addition to observing the data collection process, she also engaged in dialogue with BPS officers and business owners to gain insight into the community's economic conditions.

According to Yashinta, her presence at the activity was a form of support for implementation of an economic census to produce accurate data as a basis for formulating government policies.

"The main goal is to participate in BPS activities to collect data from the public to support the economic census program. We hope that this economic census will enable us at the center to formulate policies and understand the real situation of the community based on the data collected by BPS officers," she said.

She emphasized that the results of the field survey and the aspirations expressed by business actors provide important input for the DPD RI in carrying out its regional representation function. This information is expected to strengthen policy formulation that is more responsive to community needs and regional economic conditions.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Yogyakarta City Statistics Agency (BPS), Joko Prayitno, expressed his appreciation for R.A. Yashinta Sekarwangi Mega's presence at the inspection. He stated that the presence of the DPD RI member encouraged field officers and encouraged the public to provide honest data, thus improving the quality of the resulting data.

"We hope Ms. Yashinta's presence will encourage field officers in their data collection and inspire them to obtain better data. We also hope that her presence will motivate the public to provide honest data, so that the data obtained truly reflects the real conditions on the ground," said Joko Prayitno.

He added that accurate and high-quality data will be an important foundation for the government in formulating development policies, particularly in the economic sector, so that they are more targeted and in line with the real conditions of society.

Through this review, the DPD RI together with the DIY BPS and the Yogyakarta City BPS hope that the implementation of the economic census will be able to produce valid data as a basis for formulating policies that favor the community and support strengthening the regional economy.*
