West Papua, dpd.go.id - Chairperson of Committee III of the DPD RI, Dr. Filep Wamafma, SH., M.Hum., C.L.A., encouraged the West Papua Provincial Government and district governments to immediately welcome the 2027 school revitalization program. He encouraged the regional government to prepare proposals for public and private schools that require revitalization for the 2027 Fiscal Year.
This push follows the allocation of Rp14.28 trillion nationally by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) for the 2027 Education Unit Revitalization Program. The government also targets expanding the program to reach up to 100,000 education units, with attention to severely damaged schools, 3T areas, and schools affected by disasters.
"We encourage West Papua to proactively respond to this program. The regional government needs to act quickly so that schools in need, both public and private, can be proposed according to the regulations and have the opportunity to participate in the 2027 revitalization program," said Filep.
According to him, the provincial and district education offices need to map school conditions early on, including the level of building damage, classroom needs, number of students, sanitation, clean water, land conditions and accessibility.
"The data must be valid and reflect the actual conditions. Dapodik, damage documentation, geotagging, land legality, and institutional documents must be prepared so that the proposal process can run smoothly," he added.
Furthermore, Filep requested that regional governments also focus on schools in remote, island, mountainous, and frontier (3T) areas, and areas with difficult access, during mapping. Private schools that meet the requirements will also be included in the data collection and proposal process. He added that the final mechanisms and requirements must still follow the Ministry of Education and Culture's technical guidelines for Fiscal Year 2027, once they are published.
"Regional governments need to act quickly and collect detailed data to ensure that no schools needing revitalization are not listed or have incomplete documentation when the application process opens," he stressed.
On the same occasion, as Chairperson of Committee III of the DPD RI, Filep stated that he would encourage supervision of the implementation of the program so that the revitalization policy can reach educational units that truly need it in West Papua.
"In this national program, the regional government plays a crucial role by ensuring that West Papua's needs are properly mapped and proposed appropriately, transparently, and in accordance with regulations. The goal is to provide decent and safe schools for West Papuan children," Filep concluded.
