DPD RI of West Kalimantan received an audience with the Bugis Malay Fellowship Foundation, Syarif Melvin: Community aspirations must continue to be channeled

Pontianak, dpd.go.id – Syarif Melvin, a member of the House of Regional Representative of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI) representing West Kalimantan, received an audience with the management of the Bugis Melayu Fellowship Foundation (YPBM) at the DPD RI West Kalimantan Provincial Office on Wednesday (July 29, 2026). The audience discussed various community aspirations related to employment issues, fuel shortages, regional development, and emerging social issues.

Points of Aspiration Conveyed During the meeting, several YPBM representatives and community members conveyed various issues they face in the field. The following is a summary of the aspirations expressed:

Aspiration Submission Mechanism: The public can submit aspirations not only directly to DPD RI Members, but also through the DPD RI Representative Office for West Kalimantan Province.

Coffee Morning Program: Syarif Melvin is known to regularly hold "Coffee Morning" activities every month with different themes as a meeting place for various elements of society to express their aspirations.

The purpose of YPBM: The Bugis Malay Fellowship Foundation led by Mr. Daeng Fitrah aims to spread religion, social and culture.

Inauguration Invitation: YPBM invites Syarif Melvin to attend the inauguration ceremony to be held on August 9, 2026 at the Governor's Pendopo, which will be attended by representatives from 14 districts/cities.

Construction Worker Protection: YPBM proposes regulations regarding equality and wage certainty for construction workers, as well as facilitation of BPJS Employment considering their uncertain income.

Transparency in TPU Management: Regarding the uncertain income of gravediggers (Rp 500,000-800,000), they only receive Rp 200,000-300,000. The management of the Danau Sentarum TPU Foundation should have an income of Rp 4 billion, but currently only Rp 1 billion.

Livestock Employment Assistance: KKR representative, Mr. Muhammad, requested assistance to open employment opportunities in the livestock sector.

Fuel Scarcity and Social Issues: YPBM Secretary General, Mr. Usul, highlighted the widespread shortage of Pertalite and diesel fuel, as well as LGBT issues that affect the future of the nation's children. He also asked whether the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program had been implemented at the regional level.

Tilapia Fish Feed Assistance: Mr. Kardiman, who is engaged in tilapia fish farming, asked for government assistance regarding fish feed, considering that the cost of feed is difficult and the CSR assistance worth 25 million rupiah is not enough.

Fuel Queue Management: Mr. Imam highlighted the shortage of diesel and Pertalite, as well as managing fuel queues to ensure purchases do not exceed the limit. He also criticized the CCTV at gas stations, which is not functioning optimally.

Equitable Development: Risman from Sambas called for equitable development, particularly in Jawai, where coconut prices have declined. He also highlighted the difficulties faced by palm oil drivers and fishermen in obtaining diesel fuel.

Syarif Melvin's Response Responding to these various aspirations, Syarif Melvin provided several responses and commitments:

Gravedigger Wages: Regarding gravedigger wages, it is necessary to communicate with the TPU Foundation regarding financial transparency.

Subsidized Fertilizer: Subsidized fertilizer is cheap, but difficult to obtain. Fertilizer assistance is distributed to farmer groups, while the price for individuals varies. Syarif Melvin will report the high price of fertilizer to the government.

Fuel shortage: Syarif Melvin has contacted the director of a Pertamina company. The fuel shortage is caused by factors such as high waves and low tide, making it difficult for ships to enter, as well as the impact of the Middle East war. However, the situation is now under control.

LGBT Issue: Ranked 7th, a Regional Regulation Draft (Raperda) is currently being prepared, and if possible, it will be included in the Draft Law (RUU).

MBG Program: The Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program is not yet evenly distributed, especially in remote areas. However, the 3T (Frontier, Outermost, and Disadvantaged) program is now in place to ensure even coverage in remote areas.

Fish Feed Assistance: Regarding tilapia fish feed assistance, it can be submitted to the Department of Agriculture.

Coconut Prices: Syarif Melvin will ask the Department of Agriculture and Plantations regarding the decline in coconut prices, whether it is only happening in Sambas or all districts.

This hearing demonstrated the DPD RI of West Kalimantan commitment to accommodating and channeling public aspirations. Syarif Melvin emphasized that Indonesia's development begins with the strength of communities in every corner of the country, and the DPD RI serves as the voice of the region and a liaison between local aspirations and national policy.

Going forward, these various aspirations will continue to be communicated with relevant agencies to find appropriate solutions for the people of West Kalimantan.
