Ade Yuliasih Meets with Banten Governor to Encourage Investment in Data Centers That Protect Citizen Data

Serang, dpd.go.id — Member of the House of Regional Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI) from Banten, Ade Yuliasih, encouraged investment in data centers and artificial intelligence (AI) in Banten while still paying attention to data security and the public's right to privacy.

Ade made the statement after bringing prospective investors from China to meet Banten Governor Andra Soni at the Banten Provincial State Building, Serang City, Wednesday, July 29, 2026.

The prospective investor in attendance was Hexavia CEO Qimeng Sun. Ade was accompanied by Rear Admiral Dr. Eko Jalmo, Commissioner of PT Agrinas Jaladri Nusantara, at the meeting. The meeting discussed opportunities for developing data centers and AI technology in Banten.

"We welcome investments that can strengthen the economy and create jobs. However, data center and AI investments aren't just about infrastructure development. Data security, privacy, and community rights must be protected from the outset," Ade said.

According to Ade, data centers are strategic infrastructure because they are involved in the storage, processing, and security of information. Therefore, their development must be transparent, responsible, and comply with Indonesian laws and regulations.

In the context of the DPD RI Committee I members' recess, Ade assessed that the development of digital technology has presented new challenges to human rights protection. The risks of personal data misuse, unauthorized access, and surveillance detrimental to the public must be anticipated.

"Technological progress must continue to place humans at the center of development. Technology must not open up opportunities for the misuse of personal information," he said.

Ade stated that digital investment must also provide direct benefits to the Banten community. These benefits could include local employment, technology training, collaboration with universities, and knowledge transfer to the younger generation.

"We don't just want Banten to be a location for digital infrastructure development. The people of Banten must have job opportunities, improve their skills, and grow alongside the industry," he said.

Ade believes Banten's investment potential is due to its strategic location. The province offers access to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport and Merak Port, as well as a well-established electricity supply and water resources.

Ade hopes the meeting will be followed up with a comprehensive study covering technical, legal, environmental, data security, workforce needs, and investment benefits for the Banten community.

Banten Governor Andra Soni welcomed the investment exploration. He stated that the Banten Provincial Government is open to potential investors as long as their investment activities comply with legal requirements.

"As representatives of the central government in the regions, we strive to provide as much assistance as possible to potential investors who wish to enter Indonesia," said Andra.
