The Speaker of the DPD RI Sultan Welcomes Presidential Regulation on Post-Flood Rehab and Recon in Sumatra

Jakarta, dpd.go.id - The Speaker of the House of Regional Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia, Sultan Baktiar Najamudin, has expressed his support for the flood recovery efforts in Sumatra, which are set to be established through a Presidential Regulation (Perpres) currently being prepared by the government.

According to him, the Rehab-Recon Perpres is a testament to President Prabowo Subianto's political commitment to the socio-economic recovery of the communities in the three affected provinces: Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

"We welcome the plan by President Prabowo's administration to issue this Rehab-Recon Perpres. This will undoubtedly accelerate the process of rehabilitation and reconstruction of basic infrastructure for the affected regions and communities," Sultan stated in an official release on Tuesday (04/07).

The former Vice Governor of Bengkulu noted that the post-flood recovery process in Sumatra requires significant budgetary support, necessitating the cooperation of all parties.

"We should appreciate that amidst the challenges of global uncertainty, which directly impact the nation's financial condition, President Prabowo continues to give serious attention to the people affected by the Sumatra disaster," he emphasized.

Therefore, Sultan continued, the DPD requests that all relevant local governments maintain coordination with all stakeholders.

"We also urge the affected communities to support the government's efforts in the Rehab-Recon process by maintaining unity and avoiding social unrest in the regions," he concluded.

The government is reportedly finalizing the Master Plan for the Acceleration of Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (Rehab-Recon) in Sumatra, which will serve as a national reference. This document is targeted for immediate enactment in the form of a Presidential Regulation (Perpres).

Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Pratikno stated that the master plan is currently in the finalization stage by the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas before being submitted for the Presidential Regulation.
