Sultan Delivered the Joint Session of the DPR RI and DPD RI Invitation to Former Vice President Boediono, Calling Him a Calming National Figure

Jakarta, dpd.go.id – Speaker of the House of Regional Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI) Sultan Baktiar Najamudin, alongside Vice Speakers Yorrys Raweyai and Tamsil Linrung, once again delivered invitations for the Joint Session of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) and DPD RI to former Vice Presidents of the Republic of Indonesia.

This time, the three DPD RI leaders visited the residence of the 11th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Boediono, in Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Friday (7/8).

"Alhamdulillah (Thank God), today the three of us resumed our stay-in-touch visits with national figures to directly hand over invitations for the Joint Session of DPR RI and DPD RI," Sultan told members of the media.

The 6th Speaker of the DPD RI stated that maintaining relationships with national figures is an important tradition that must be preserved. According to him, the views and experiences of statesmen serve as a valuable source of input for the DPD RI in executing its constitutional function as a regional representative body.

"We are very happy. At the age of 84, Pak Boediono remains healthy and is still able to remember many things. He is a very calm and soothing national figure," Sultan said.

Sultan revealed that although he rarely appears in public, Boediono remains actively informed on the latest national developments, the domestic economy, and global geopolitical dynamics.

"We discussed various matters regarding national economic progress and the global situation. He advised the DPD RI and all elements of the nation to continuously maintain unity, strengthen solidarity, and enhance cooperation in facing various national challenges," he emphasized.

Furthermore, the former Vice Governor of Bengkulu shared that Boediono expressed his willingness to attend the Joint Session of DPR RI and DPD RI on August 14, 2026, to witness the State Address by the President of the Republic of Indonesia in Observance of the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia.

"God willing, he is willing to attend the Joint Session of DPR RI and DPD RI to watch the President's State Address for the 81st Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia. Let us pray that he continues to be blessed with good health and keeps providing input and advice to us all," Sultan concluded.

In addition to handing over the invitation to the Joint Session of DPR RI and DPD RI, Sultan also presented the book Green Democracy to Boediono.

"This is an interesting book. I will read it," said Boediono, a former Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs and former Governor of Bank Indonesia.
