Jakarta, dpd.go.id – Speaker of the House of Regional Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI), Sultan Baktiar Najamudin, alongside Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI), Puan Maharani, and Vice Speaker of the DPR RI, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, jointly conducted an inspection of the readiness of the Joint Session Room of the DPR RI and DPD RI on Wednesday (12/8).

The three parliamentary leaders wanted to ensure that the venue for the Joint Session of the DPR RI and DPD RI, as well as the Annual Session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR RI) which will feature the President of the Republic of Indonesia on August 14, 2026 has been thoroughly prepared.

“Alhamdulillah (Praise be to God), this afternoon we happened to inspect the venue readiness for the Joint Session together. As the host of the Joint Session, the DPD RI wants to make sure everything is well prepared,” Sultan told reporters at the Gedung Bulat (Round Building), MPR/DPR/DPD RI Parliamentary Complex.

After finishing the inspection, the three leaders, accompanied by several members of the DPR RI and DPD RI, continued with a relaxed discussion while enjoying a bowl of meatballs (bakso).

“This meatball dish becomes very special when enjoyed together with extraordinary people. Both of them, Mbak Puan and Bang Dasco, are highly respected national figures who play an important role in nurturing the dynamics of democracy and maintaining national political stability,” said the former Vice Governor of Bengkulu.

According to Sultan, the togetherness shown by the parliamentary leaders is part of an effort to demonstrate unity and harmony to the public, especially during Independence Month.

“As parliamentary leaders, we want to show unity and harmony to the public during this Independence Month. We believe our people, both in the regions and cities, share the same desire and responsibility to maintain social tranquility,” he said.

He added that simple gatherings and togetherness, such as sharing a bowl of meatballs, can send a positive message to the public to continue safeguarding unity and social peace.

“The message is simple. Through silaturahmi (strengthening ties) and eating meatballs which is one of the favorite dishes of the Indonesian people, we hope the people and nation of Indonesia continue to maintain unity, social tranquility, and foster oneness,” Sultan concluded.
