The Speaker of DPD RI Sultan Praises Government Plan to Change PPPK Status to Civil Servant Status

dpd.go.id, Jakarta – The Speaker of the House Regional Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI), Sultan Baktiar Najamudin, welcomed the Government's plan to change the status of Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK), including part-time PPPK in the regions, to Civil Servants (PNS).

According to Sultan, this plan is a breath of fresh air for non-civil servant workers, particularly teachers and healthcare workers who have been serving in various regions. Certainty about employment status is considered crucial to provide a sense of security and increase the spirit of community service.

"We appreciate the government's policy, and certainly the leadership of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), which continues to pay special attention to the future of civil servants (ASN PPPK) and part-time civil servants (PPPK). We hope this good news will further bolster the spirit of service among our brothers and sisters, teachers, and non-civil servant healthcare workers in the regions," Sultan told the media at the Senayan Building in Jakarta on Wednesday (August 19).

The former KNPI activist believes that ensuring the status of ASN is a form of state appreciation for all civil servants who have provided service to the community.

"We must acknowledge that President Prabowo Subianto's administration prioritizes policies oriented toward the principles of justice and equality. These are values we, as citizens, should appreciate," the Sultan emphasized.

Furthermore, the Sultan stated that the policy of transferring PPPK status is not only related to career certainty and the welfare of civil servants, but also has the potential to have a positive impact on the regional economy.

According to him, improving the welfare of regional officials will also boost people's purchasing power and stimulate local economic activity.

"I believe that with the state budget's substantial fiscal capacity, the government has the capacity to prioritize the welfare of our civil servants. However, we must also ensure that this policy doesn't become an excuse for local governments to re-recruit new contract workers," Sultan conclude
