The Speaker of DPD RI Extended an Invitation to the Joint Session of the DPR-DPD RI to KH Ma'ruf Amin, in an attempt to Strengthening National Ties

Depok, dpd.go.id – Sultan Baktiar Najamudin, Speaker of the House of Regional Representative of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI), held a national gathering with the 13th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, KH Ma'ruf Amin, in Depok on Monday (August 10). During the meeting, Sultan personally extended an invitation to attend the 2026 Joint Session of the DPR and DPD.

The meeting was not only part of a series of preparations for the state agenda, but also a momentum to strengthen communication and friendship between national figures, as well as exchange views on developments in national life and challenges to Indonesian development.

On that occasion, Sultan was accompanied by Vice Speakers of the DPD RI Yorrys Raweyai and Tamsil Linrung. In addition to extending the invitation, the DPD RI leadership also outlined the DPD RI's work and contributions in carrying out its regional representation function, particularly in absorbing, overseeing, and championing the aspirations of local communities to ensure they are incorporated into national development policies.

Sultan said that maintaining close ties with national figures is an important part of maintaining the continuity of national communication amidst the various dynamics and challenges facing Indonesia.

"This national gathering is also part of an effort to invite national figures to attend the Joint Session of the DPR and DPD RI. As the host, the DPD RI certainly wants this opportunity to provide a space to maintain communication, unity, and continuity in the struggle to build Indonesia. The DPD RI will continue to fulfill its role as a regional representative and ensure that regional voices and interests are included in national policy," said Sultan.

Meanwhile, the 13th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, KH Ma'ruf Amin, welcomed the invitation. He stated that the Annual Session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) and the Joint Session of the House of Representatives (DPR) and the House of Regional Representative (DPD) are important moments for the Indonesian nation, particularly in conveying the achievements and performance of state institutions to the public.

"I will be attending. This is certainly a very important occasion. Besides commemorating Independence Day, we will also receive a direct report on the institution's performance from the President. We are certainly looking forward to this," said Ma'ruf Amin.

Sultan added that the experiences, thoughts, and exemplary behavior of national figures, including KH Ma'ruf Amin, are an important part of enriching perspectives in carrying out state duties.

"This nation was built through a long process, with the contributions and exemplary behavior of national figures. Therefore, communication and friendship must be maintained. We want the spirit of nationalism and the continuity of development to remain the foundation for facing future challenges," he concluded.**
