The Speaker of DPD RI Encourages Strengthening Regional Synergy in Halalbihalal Gatherings for South Sumatera

Palembang, dpd.go.id – Speaker of the House of the Regional Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI), Sultan B. Najamuddin, attended the Halalbihalal gathering of the South Sumatera (Sumbagsel) Community held at Griya Agung, Palembang, on Saturday (April 25, 2026). This event served as a strategic opportunity to strengthen ties and the development direction of the South Sumatera (Sumbagsel) region as an integrated entity.

In his remarks, Sultan expressed his appreciation to the South Sumatera Provincial Government, as host, for organizing the event. He noted that the meeting served not only as a forum for friendship but also as a platform for consolidating ideas and strengthening unity among the South Sumatera community.

"This gathering is not just a gathering of travelers, but also a momentum to unite and strengthen South Sumatera's contribution to national development," said Sultan.

According to Sultan, South Sumatera has a significant foundation and potential that needs to be optimized together, but still faces challenges in inter-regional connectivity and policy synchronization, which are key to the region's strength amidst the current development dynamics.

Sultan encouraged the strengthening of the Sumatera Economic Corridor (SEC) concept as a strategic step to build an integrated and highly competitive regional economic ecosystem. He emphasized that DPD RI will continue to monitor regional aspirations to ensure they become part of national policy.

He added that this event has strategic value in strengthening social ties while building integrity and shared values within the nation. He believes that strong interpersonal relationships will impact the quality of development.

In closing his remarks, Sultan urged all the people of South Sumatra to continue fostering relations and strengthening cross-sectoral collaboration. He expressed optimism that, by working together, South Sumatra could become a major force in shaping the direction of national development.
