dpd.go.id Jakarta - The Speaker of the House of the Regional Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI), Sultan Baktiar Najamudin, attended and officially opened the 2026 International Mushabaqoh Tiwatil Qur'an (MTQ) World Mosque Youth at the Istiqlal Mosque, Jakarta, on Saturday (May 23). In his remarks, the Sultan conveyed the importance of the Mosque Youth's role as drivers of change and civilization amidst the geopolitical and climate crises.
The senator from Bengkulu explained that World Mosque Youth is not just an ordinary organization or association, but rather an organization that can become a moral movement and a civilization movement that is important to preserve.
"The world needs not only a generation with intellectual intelligence, but also one with noble morals. One that can implement the values of the Quran as the foundation for thinking, behaving, and acting," said Sultan in his remarks.
The 2026 World Mosque Youth International MTQ (Quotes of the Quran) event was attended by representatives of mosque youth from 29 provinces, nine ASEAN countries, and China. Among the attendees were representatives from Malaysia, Brunei, Timor Leste, Cambodia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Singapore.
"I am proud of the participants in this International MTQ recitation competition, which comes from various regions and friendly countries. With today's technology, I am confident that young people from all regions have the same opportunity to learn, develop, and perform on the world stage," added the senator from Bengkulu.
Sultan also emphasized the importance of the World Mosque Youth's role in implementing Islamic values as a glue for harmonious relations between religions, nations, and cultures. This aligns with Asta Cita, which aims to develop superior, strong, and character-based Indonesian human resources, ready to welcome Indonesia's Golden Era 2045.
