The Speaker of the DPD RI, Sultan Baktiar Najamudin, Praises Indonesian National Armed Forces for Active Role in Bridge Construction and Flood Recovery in Sumatra

dpd.go.id - Speaker of the House of the Regional Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI), Sultan Baktiar Najamudin, expressed his appreciation to the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) for their active participation in the construction of hundreds of bridges and in the recovery process from the recent Sumatra flood disaster.

The former Vice Governor of Bengkulu said that the active role of TNI soldiers in helping local communities is a manifestation of the TNI's devotion and love for the Indonesian people and nation.

"We see that the TNI is not only active in maintaining the country's defense and sovereignty, but also effectively encouraging the speed and accuracy of the implementation of government programs in accordance with the hopes of the people in the regions," Sultan told the media on Tuesday (10/03/2026).

Sultan added that as long as the TNI maintains a commitment and deep understanding of the socio-economic life of communities down to the villages, the TNI is at one with the people.

"On behalf of the DPD RI, we would like to express our gratitude for the active participation and hard work of TNI soldiers in several priority government programs, including the MBG program, the Red and White Village Cooperative, forest area management, and post-disaster road and bridge infrastructure development programs," he concluded.

Furthermore, Sultan said that as an institution, the DPD RI is ready to collaborate with the TNI institution in the agenda of monitoring regional development and National Resilience in the regions.

"The DPD RI and the TNI have the same constitutional responsibility in maintaining national unity," he concluded.

It is known that President Prabowo Subianto has just inaugurated 218 bridges virtually on Monday (March 9), by inviting TNI soldiers involved in the construction led by a task force under the command of the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army.
