dpd.go.id NABIRE – Vice Speaker of the House of Regional Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI), Yorrys Raweyai, made a strategic working visit to the Central Papua Regional Police (Polda) Headquarters in Nabire on Wednesday (04/03/2026).
During the visit, Yorrys and his entourage were welcomed directly by the Deputy Chief of the Central Papua Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Dr. Gustav R. Urbinas. The meeting discussed current security dynamics and plans for comprehensive police capacity development in Central Papua Province.
In the discussion session, several participants discussed the commitment to security and stability in the Central Papua jurisdiction.
Yorrys emphasized that the stability of Public Security and Order (Kamtibmas) is an absolute prerequisite for the sustainability of regional development.
Yorrys also expressed his full support for the steps taken by the Central Papua Regional Police, particularly in addressing the challenges of disruption from the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) through a combination of personnel reinforcements and persuasive approaches to residents.
"Security is the foundation of all progress. I appreciate the Central Papua Regional Police's efforts to combine personnel reinforcements with a persuasive approach to the community. We want to ensure that every citizen feels safe and that the state is truly present to maintain order," Yorrys emphasized in his statement to the Central Papua Regional Police in Nabire.
In line with these efforts to strengthen stability, Yorrys also emphasized the importance of strengthening systems, human resources, and infrastructure for the Central Papua Regional Police. This step is considered highly strategic for optimizing public services and accelerating personnel mobilization in the field.
This is because the Central Papua Regional Police still faces limitations in infrastructure and human resources that are spread unevenly across all districts in Central Papua.
"We are currently experiencing very limited police infrastructure. This has a significant impact on the Regional Police's readiness to respond to security and order demands in the Central Papua region," said Gustav.
Gustav also expressed his strong hope that the DPD RI could accelerate the needs of the Central Papua Regional Police through communication between the DPD RI and the National Police Headquarters.
Meanwhile, Yorrys stated that he would oversee the proposal to strengthen managerial aspects, improve personnel quality, and provide supporting infrastructure at the central level so that the National Police Headquarters and the government would prioritize the budget, considering that infrastructure readiness and system capacity are symbols of security readiness in maintaining long-term stability in Central Papua.
The visit concluded with a shared agreement and understanding that synergy between the legislative and police institutions is essential to creating a conducive situation.
With political support from DPD RI and a commitment to strengthening the systems, human resources, and infrastructure of the Central Papua Regional Police, it is hoped that the development transition process in this new province will proceed safely, peacefully, and provide a positive economic impact for the local community.
