Yogyakarta, dpd.go.id - Vice Speaker of the House of Regional Representatives (DPD) of the Republic of Indonesia, GKR Hemas, conducted a working visit to Jogja Agro Park (JAP), located in Nanggulan District, Kulon Progo Regency, on Monday (2/3). During the visit with the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), GKR Hemas highlighted the importance of strengthening governance and cross-sector collaboration to transform JAP into an agro-education model that has a tangible impact on the community's economy.
According to GKR Hemas, Jogja Agro Park is expected to become an integrated agricultural laboratory based on educational tourism. This is characterized by the planting of horticultural commodities and the development of livestock areas that can be utilized as practical learning media.
"This is actually what is expected—for JAP to serve as a center for seeding and seedling education, and parts of that have now been realized. We also hope JAP becomes a learning place for children to understand agriculture and the agricultural products they consume. This place is already quite good; it’s just a matter of how to market tourism in Kulon Progo Regency so it remains vibrant," she said.
Also present at the visit were the Regent of Kulon Progo, Agung Setyawan; the Head of the DIY Agriculture and Food Security Service (DPKP), Aris Eko Nugroho; the local Agriculture Office along with the wives of Forkopimda members; as well as the management of the PKK Mobilization Team and other parties. This agenda serves as a strategic momentum to encourage a more inclusive and integrated governance model. By involving various sectors, it is hoped that concrete partnership schemes can be opened, including the development of integrated agro-education tourism packages in the Nanggulan area. Thus, JAP does not stand alone but becomes part of a sustainable regional economic ecosystem.
As a member of Committee I, which oversees regional autonomy, central-regional relations, and regional government, GKR Hemas views the development of JAP as a relevant practice for strengthening regional capacity in managing strategic assets. "The development of JAP is not just a technical innovation, but a strategic step to strengthen the region's capacity to manage its assets independently. Strengthening regional autonomy requires us to be more creative in optimizing local potential. We want to ensure that every strategic asset in the region, including JAP, is able to provide a positive impact on the welfare of the community in that area," she concluded.
Policy support, oversight, and the facilitation of synergy between stakeholders are part of the DPD RI's constitutional role in ensuring that regional potential like JAP can develop optimally and provide positive benefits for the community.
