Speaker of the House of Regional Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia, Sultan Sends Off 500 Homebound Travelers to Five Sumatran Provinces

dpd.go.id Jakarta – The Speaker of the DPD RI, Sultan Baktiar Najamudin, officially launched the 2026 Free Homecoming Program (Mudik Gratis) in collaboration with the Sriwijaya Youth Unity (Kamsri) at the DPD RI Building Lobby, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Saturday (March 14, 2026).

The free homecoming program provided nine buses to transport approximately 500 travelers to five provinces across the Sumatra region: Lampung, Bengkulu, South Sumatra, Jambi, and Bangka Belitung.

In his remarks, Sultan expressed his appreciation for Kamsri's initiative in consistently organizing free homecoming programs for the public. He viewed the activity as a form of social concern and a tangible contribution from community organizations to assist those wishing to return to their hometowns during the Eid (Lebaran) season.

According to him, collective homecoming programs like the one organized by Kamsri are not new, but the consistency in executing them year after year is highly commendable. He expressed hope that such activities could continue and even be expanded so that more people can benefit.

Sultan also noted that collective homecoming does not only assist the community economically but also contributes to improving travel safety. With organized transportation facilities, travelers can journey more safely and comfortably.

Meanwhile, the Kamsri 2026 Homecoming Committee stated that the program is part of the organization’s commitment to strengthening solidarity and providing social services to the community, particularly for Sumatran migrants living in Jakarta and the surrounding areas.

The participants were dispatched using nine buses prepared by the committee and are scheduled to head to various destination cities across the five provinces. This program is expected to help the community celebrate Eid al-Fitr with their families in their hometowns more easily and safely.
