Speaker of The House of Regional Representatives of The Republic of Indonesia, Sultan Appreciates President Prabowo for Celebrating Eid al-Fitr with Sumatra Flood Victims

Jakarta, dpd.go.id – The Speaker of the House of Regional Representative of the Republic of Indonesia, Sultan Bachtiar Najamudin, expressed his appreciation to President Prabowo Subianto for performing the Eid al-Fitr prayer alongside Sumatra flood victims in Aceh Tamiang Regency.

According to him, the President's presence among the flood victims sends a powerful message of empathy and demonstrates that the state is present during the people's most difficult times.

"The President is ensuring that the state, through the government he leads, is committed to bringing hope, sharing happiness, and empathizing with the grief of the community affected by the floods during Eid al-Fitr," Sultan stated during an official press conference at the Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta on Saturday (March 21).

The former Vice Governor of Bengkulu noted that the Sumatra floods in December of last year resulted in many casualties and the loss of loved ones.

"I believe this is a rare event and a first in the history of national leadership, where a President of Indonesia is willing to be present for the Eid al-Fitr prayer with disaster victims in the regions. As a Sumatran myself, we are certainly very proud of and have great respect for the President," he remarked.

Furthermore, Sultan expressed his gratitude for the government's commitment and consistency in restoring areas impacted by the Sumatra floods.

"We see that infrastructure reconstruction efforts are being continuously pursued by the central government. Likewise, there is support through additional budget allocations for the affected local governments," he concluded.
