Senator Agita Applauds International Job Fair 2026 for Expanding Employment Opportunities and Strengthening Workforce Competitiveness

Sukabumi, dpd.go.id – Senator Agita Nurfianti, a member of Committee III of Indonesia's House of Regional Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI) representing West Java, expressed her support and appreciation for the International Job Fair 2026 held at PASIM Campus in Sukabumi, describing it as an important initiative to expand employment opportunities and enhance the competitiveness of Indonesia's human resources, particularly in West Java.

Agita made the remarks while attending the event alongside Minister for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI), Mukhtarudin, and Sukabumi Mayor Ayep Zaki on Monday (July 27).

She praised the job fair as a strong example of collaboration between the government, educational institutions, and the private sector in creating broader employment opportunities, especially for young people in West Java. The event serves as a strategic platform connecting job seekers with employers while also offering access to international career opportunities.

According to Agita, initiatives such as the International Job Fair not only help people find employment but also provide valuable insights into labor market demands, industry-required competencies, and professional career prospects both domestically and abroad.

"I warmly welcome the International Job Fair 2026. Events like this are a concrete step toward connecting the nation's best talents with the world of work. The more opportunities we create for people to access job information and employment, the greater our chances of reducing unemployment and improving public welfare," Agita said.

She added that West Java possesses tremendous human resource potential that must continue to be strengthened through skills development, professional training, and better access to credible labor market information.

"A job fair is more than just a recruitment event it is also a platform for building confidence and preparing our young generation to compete globally. I hope initiatives like this will continue on a sustainable basis, involving even more national and international companies so that more Indonesians, particularly those from West Java, can secure jobs that match their skills and qualifications," she continued.

Agita also welcomed the participation of Minister Mukhtarudin, saying it reflects the government's commitment to expanding access to safe, legal, and dignified employment opportunities, including for Indonesian migrant workers seeking jobs overseas through proper legal procedures.

"We want Indonesian migrant workers to move up the value chain. The old perception of migrant workers as domestic helpers must change. We aim to increase participation in formal and professional sectors such as healthcare and manufacturing in various countries," Minister Mukhtarudin said.

Agita emphasized that stronger collaboration among the central government, regional governments, universities, and industry is essential to building an employment ecosystem that can adapt to the evolving demands of the global labor market.

As a member of Committee III of DPD RI, which oversees labor affairs and the protection of Indonesian migrant workers, Agita reaffirmed her commitment to promoting policies that improve the quality of human resources, expand employment opportunities, and strengthen protections for Indonesian workers.

She expressed hope that the International Job Fair 2026 would inspire other regions across Indonesia to organize similar events that effectively connect business needs with the talent and potential of local communities.

This year's International Job Fair featured 30 licensed Indonesian Migrant Worker Placement Companies (P3MI), offering more than 5,000 job vacancies across a wide range of sectors, including construction, manufacturing, agriculture, hospitality, and the cruise industry. The event runs from July 27–28, 2026.
