Rebranding of the SMS Cooperative of the DPD RI Secretariat General: Promoting Modernization, Online Services, and Professional Governance

Jakarta, dpd.go.id – The Sabang Merauke Sejahtera (SMS) Cooperative of the Secretariat General of the DPD RI has officially re-emerged with a new, more modern face that is relevant and responsive to current needs. This rebranding reflects the spirit of togetherness, mutual cooperation, and self-reliance, realized through business services that adapt to modern developments.

Secretary General of the DPD RI Mohammad Iqbal emphasized that the relaunch of this business unit is not merely a logo change or a physical facelift for the store, but a strategic step to ensure the cooperative's sustainability and competitiveness.

"Rebranding is a strategic decision to ensure the business remains relevant to modern expectations. A single small step of courage to execute today is far more meaningful than a thousand plans that exist only in one's head," Mohammad Iqbal said while inaugurating the SMS Cooperative of the DPD RI Secretariat General at the DPD RI Building in Jakarta on Tuesday (July 28, 2026).

He added that to strengthen bargaining power and improve operational standards, the SMS Cooperative has partnered with Outlet Mitra Indogrosir. This collaboration is expected to guarantee supply availability while enhancing store management quality.

"In addition to the physical store, the order-pay-and-deliver mechanism implemented through the newly developed online shopping system is concrete proof that this cooperative is sensitive to changing times, sensitive to needs, and sensitive to progress. This is the face of today's modern cooperative that we collectively aspire to achieve," said Mohammad Iqbal.

Mohammad Iqbal also stated that leadership and the spirit of today's rebranding must not stop at the unveiling of the cooperative's new face. Both must be continued and reinforced through a comprehensive overhaul of cooperative management.

"We must leave behind old methods that are no longer effective and replace them with new management that is more transparent, accountable, professional, and supported by good cooperative governance," he added.

On the same occasion, Chairperson of the SMS Cooperative of the DPD RI Secretariat General Hartawan explained that since its inception in 2016, the cooperative has navigated various dynamics marked by successions in management. Overall, the cooperative has passed through three generations of leadership, each contributing to and achieving welfare for its members.

"In line with technological advancements, the SMS Cooperative has also transformed from manual management to a digital system and online shop. This has been realized through the development of an integrated cooperative application, which can now be easily accessed by employees via the DPD RI Secretariat General's SSO," Hartawan explained.
