pd.go.id Jakarta – DPD RI senator from Aceh, Azhari Cage, SIP, has once again demonstrated a significant act of humanitarianism by arranging the return of an Aceh native who passed away at Cibitung Hospital in Bekasi early Sunday morning, May 3, 2026.
The deceased has been identified as Khaidir (32), a resident of Cot Tufah, Gandapura District, Bireuen Regency. Khaidir had been undergoing treatment at Cibitung Hospital since April 20, 2026, following an initial diagnosis of tetanus.
"I was contacted by the family and the Geusyik (village head) of Cot Tufah to assist in bringing Khaidir home while he was still being treated. We, along with the Aceh Liaison Office in Jakarta, went straight to the hospital to coordinate with the doctors," Senator Azhari Cage told reporters on Sunday afternoon.
According to Azhari, the patient's condition was critical, making him unfit for air travel at the time, which necessitated continued hospitalization.
"Then, early this morning around 1:00 AM WIB, we received word that he had passed away. We immediately began the process to return his remains to Cot Tufah, Gandapura, via Kualanamu Airport," he added.
To facilitate the repatriation, Azhari Cage personally covered the costs, amounting to IDR 22 million. These expenses included Casket and embalming (formalin), Airline tickets and cargo fees, Warehouse rentals and gateaway fees, necessary administrative documentation, travel costs for an accompanying escort.
"The body is scheduled to be flown via Citilink at 6:45 PM WIB and is expected to arrive at Kualanamu at approximately 9:00 PM WIB. From there, he will be transported by land to Cot Tufah, Gandapura, Bireuen," Azhari explained.
"I hope the repatriation process goes smoothly so the deceased can be properly buried in his hometown. I ask for prayers from all the people of Aceh," he concluded.
