Hosting the 2026 MPR Annual Session and Joint Session of the DPR and DPD, DPD RI Delivers Invitation to Jusuf Kalla

Jakarta, dpd.go.id – The House of Regional Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI) has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the successful organization of the 2026 Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR RI) and the Joint Session of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) and DPD RI, as a moment to strengthen national unity and patriotism ahead of the 81st anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence.

As the host of the sessions, DPD RI has invited former Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Jusuf Kalla to attend and deliver a national address at the sessions, which will be held on August 14, 2026.

DPD RI Speaker Sultan Baktiar Najamudin, accompanied by DPD RI Vice Speaker Yorrys Raweyai and Tamsil Linrung, as well as DPD RI Secretary General Mohammad Iqbal, personally visited Jusuf Kalla’s residence to deliver the invitation.

On the occasion, Sultan said that the 2026 MPR Annual Session and Joint Session of the DPR RI and DPD RI would not only serve as constitutional proceedings, but also as an important moment to strengthen national unity and patriotism through reflection on the nation’s journey.

“As the host, DPD RI is committed to supporting the successful organization of the MPR Annual Session and the Joint Session of the DPR RI and DPD RI, ensuring that they run smoothly and serve as a moment to strengthen national spirit ahead of the 81st anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia,” Sultan said at Jusuf Kalla’s residence in South Jakarta on Wednesday (August 5).

Sultan further noted that Jusuf Kalla’s experience in leadership and statesmanship continues to serve as an inspiration while reinforcing the values of national unity amid the dynamics of national life.

“He has consistently paid attention to regional development, particularly the need for policy innovation among regional leaders in realizing greater fiscal independence for their respective regions,” he said.

Responding to the invitation, Jusuf Kalla expressed his willingness to attend the MPR Annual Session and Joint Session of the DPR RI and DPD RI.

“God willing, I will make time to attend on August 14,” said the Chairman of the Indonesian Mosque Council (Dewan Masjid Indonesia).
