Serang, dpd.go.id - The House of Regional Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI) began construction of the Banten Province DPD RI Office with a groundbreaking ceremony in Serang City on Wednesday (August 5, 2026). The construction of this office is a strategic step to strengthen regional representation, accelerate the absorption of community aspirations, and enhance synergy between the regional and central governments in promoting Banten's development.

This development strengthens regional representation, accelerates the absorption of aspirations, and improves coordination with local governments and stakeholders so that Banten's strategic issues enter the national agenda.

Speaker of the DPD RI, Sultan Baktiar Najamudin, emphasized that the construction of regional offices is not merely the development of institutional infrastructure, but rather an investment to strengthen relations between the regions and the central government so that national development is increasingly based on the real needs of the community.

"The DPD RI was established to ensure that regional voices are heard in every national policy. Therefore, regional offices are not just physical buildings, but representation centers that strengthen communication between the community, regional governments, and the central government to achieve more just and equitable development," said Sultan.

The statement was delivered by the Sultan accompanied by Vice Speaker of the DPD RI GKR Hemas, Yorrys Raweyai, and Tamsil Linrung, along with the Governor of Banten Andra Soni, Deputy Governor of Banten Achmad Dimyati Natakusumah, four DPD RI Members from the Banten electoral district Andiara Aprilia Hikmat, Abdi Sumaithi, Habib Ali Alwi, and Ade Yuliasih, Member of the DPR RI Commission XIII Edison Sitorus, Secretary General of the DPD RI Mohammad Iqbal and other stakeholders.

At the same time, GKR Hemas, Coordinator of the DPD RI Members for the West II Sub-Region, assessed that Banten's strategic position as a national industrial area, investment center, main gateway for logistics distribution on Java Island, and a buffer zone for Jakarta makes this province play a crucial role in national development. On the other hand, various issues such as infrastructure development, sustainable industrial area development, strengthening MSMEs, protecting fishermen and farmers, coastal area management, flood control, improving the quality of education and health services, and creating jobs require strong synergy between the regional and central governments.

Therefore, the presence of the Banten Province DPD RI Office is expected to become a coordination hub that can accelerate the delivery of community aspirations while strengthening the oversight of various regional strategic programs in order to obtain policy support at the national level.

"We want the people of Banten to feel that the DPD RI is closer, more accessible, and more responsive to various regional issues. This office will serve as a coordination center to gather various aspirations, strengthen communication with all stakeholders, and oversee the interests of the Banten community so that they become part of national policies that provide real benefits for the region," Hemas continued.

Similarly, Banten Governor Andra Soni expressed his deep appreciation for the DPD RI's vital role as a regional representative in championing every regional aspiration at the national level. He stated that the 1,374-square-meter land grant is concrete evidence that this commitment is not merely a promise, but rather a concrete realization by the Banten Provincial Government of the DPD RI's institutional function as a regional representative.

"We will continue to work together to oversee the regional development agenda. Through this DPD RI office, Banten's interests and aspirations will be brought to the national level. We have conveyed several aspirations directly, one of which concerns the construction of a national road connecting Banten with other regions. Please monitor this at the central level," said the Governor of Banten.

Sultan added that, in addition to supporting the implementation of the duties of DPD RI members from Banten Province, this regional office will also be a collaborative space between the DPD RI and the Banten Provincial Government, district and city governments, the DPRD, universities, the business world, community organizations, and various other stakeholders in formulating solutions to various strategic regional issues.

With the presence of the Banten Provincial DPD RI Office, it is hoped that the public will have easier access to express their aspirations and receive follow-up on various issues they face. The office is also expected to accelerate communication between the regional and central governments, strengthen cross-stakeholder coordination, and ensure that Banten's various development potentials and needs receive proportional attention in national policies.

"The construction of the Banten Province DPD RI Office will be the 6th DPD RI office to have a representative building, following the previous offices built in the provinces of South Sumatra, Yogyakarta, Bali, NTT, and East Java," Sultan concluded.**
