Jakarta, dpd.go.id – Vice Speaker of the House of Regional Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI), GKR Hemas, emphasized the importance of placing human development at the heart of national development. She assessed that investment in education, healthcare, social protection, and character building is the key to realizing a progressive and competitive Indonesia. This assertion was conveyed by GKR Hemas while leading a DPD RI working visit to the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture (Kemenko PMK) for a consultation and to strengthen region-based human development synergy.

"During various visits to the regions, the community does not just want infrastructure development. They also long for quality education, easily accessible healthcare services, well-targeted social protection, opportunities for the younger generation, and the presence of a state capable of ensuring a better future," said GKR Hemas, accompanied by DPD RI members, at the Kemenko PMK Office, Jakarta, Tuesday (9/6/2026).

According to GKR Hemas, development success is measured not only by economic growth or physical development, but also by human quality, cultural strength, and the integrity of state administrators.

Hemas added that the role of Kemenko PMK is becoming increasingly strategic because it coordinates various programs that directly touch the quality of public life, ranging from accelerating the reduction of stunting, strengthening healthcare services, developing Sekolah Rakyat (Folk Schools/Community Schools), improving human resource quality, and providing social protection, to advancing national culture.

The Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Pratikno, revealed that his ministry is working hard to build excellent and resilient Indonesian human resources. This aligns with President Prabowo's vision to carry out coordination, synchronization, and control of human development and cultural policies. The main focus is to ensure the success of the national agenda toward realizing excellent and quality human resources through ministry/agency synergy.

"Excellent human resources are driven to compete globally, yet remain socially inclusive with no one left behind," stated Pratikno. GKR Hemas assessed that human development must be understood as an effort to shape healthy, intelligent, character-driven, and high-integrity Indonesian citizens. Therefore, development must not focus solely on economic aspects.

"A progressive nation is not defined merely by high economic growth. We also need character building, a culture of integrity, and strong national values so that the progress achieved can be experienced sustainably," she concluded.
