Fadel Muhammad Applauds Success of PENAS XVII, Reaffirms Commitment to Strengthening National Food Security

dpd.go.id – Gorontalo – DPD RI member representing Gorontalo, Fadel Muhammad, attended the closing ceremony of the 17th National Farmers and Fisherfolk Week (PENAS XVII) 2026 in Gorontalo, which was officially closed by President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto.

Following the conclusion of the event, Fadel expressed his appreciation for the successful organization of PENAS XVII, describing it as a well-executed national gathering that provided a valuable platform for farmers, fisherfolk, agricultural extension workers, business actors, and other stakeholders in Indonesia's food sector to collaborate.

According to Fadel, PENAS XVII served not only as a national forum for networking but also as a strategic venue for exchanging experiences, showcasing innovation and technology, and strengthening cooperation to enhance the productivity and competitiveness of the agriculture, fisheries, and forestry sectors.

"PENAS XVII has become an important momentum for strengthening collaboration in advancing a more modern, productive, and sustainable agriculture and fisheries sector. I extend my appreciation to the organizing committee, the central government, the Gorontalo Provincial Government, local administrations, and everyone whose hard work ensured the successful implementation of PENAS XVII," Fadel said.

Fadel also welcomed President Prabowo Subianto's presence at the closing ceremony, describing it as a clear demonstration of the government's commitment to developing the food sector and reinforcing national efforts to achieve food security by improving the welfare of farmers and fisherfolk.

He expressed hope that the ideas, innovations, and partnerships established during PENAS XVII would extend beyond the event itself and be translated into concrete programs aimed at enhancing human resource capacity, expanding the use of agricultural technology, strengthening downstream industries, and broadening market access for Indonesia's agricultural and fisheries products. "Gorontalo's success in hosting PENAS XVII should be a source of pride and motivation to continue contributing to the development of Indonesia's food sector. I hope the spirit of collaboration fostered during this event will continue to grow in support of an Indonesia that is self-reliant, sovereign, and globally competitive in food production," Fadel concluded.
