Attending the Opening of the 20th GPIG Synod Session, Senator Rahmijati Jahja Encourages Strengthening Tolerance and Collaboration in Building Gorontalo

Gorontalo, dpd.go.id - Member of the House of the Regional Representative of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI) for the Gorontalo Electoral District, Rahmijati Jahja, attended the Opening of the 20th Synod Session of the Indonesian Protestant Church in Gorontalo (GPIG), which was held at the Maranatha Church Building, Limboto District, Gorontalo Regency, on Wednesday (15/7).

Senator Rahmijati's presence demonstrates her support for strengthening interfaith harmony and fostering synergy among all elements of society in realizing inclusive regional development. The 20th GPIG Synod Session carries the theme "Live as Lights that Produce Goodness, Justice, and Truth," with the subtheme "Transforming in the Light of Christ, Koinonia, and Agape Love, for a Progressive and Prosperous Gorontalo."

Rahmijati Jahja believes the theme is relevant to the spirit of building a peaceful society, respecting one another, and upholding the values of unity amid diversity.

"Diversity is a national strength that must be continuously nurtured. Through this 20th GPIG Synod Session, I hope the spirit of brotherhood, tolerance, and cooperation will become stronger, serving as a foundation for building a progressive, peaceful, and prosperous Gorontalo," said Rahmijati.

The 20th GPIG Synod Session was attended by delegates from 70 congregations across Gorontalo Province. The agenda included an evaluation of the ministry program over the past five years, the development of a ministry strategy for the next five years, and the election of the Synod Assembly Working Committee (BPMS) for the 2026–2031 period.

The Secretary of the GPIG Synod, Rev. Ramses Ayawaila, explained that as many as 136 delegates from 10 GPIG service areas have the right to vote in determining various strategic decisions that will become the direction of the church's service for the next five years.

Rahmijati hopes that the results of the Synod Session will not only advance the development of church organizations but also strengthen collaboration among the government, religious leaders, and the community to support regional development.

"Religious organizations play a crucial role as government partners in building community character, strengthening social solidarity, and maintaining unity. I hope the various decisions reached at this Synod Session will make a real contribution to improving the quality of life of the people of Gorontalo," she added.

The presence of Rahmijati Jahja, along with the Deputy Governor of Gorontalo, members of the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda), the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, and church synod leaders, demonstrated support for the 20th GPIG Synod Session and strengthened cross-sector collaboration in maintaining interfaith harmony. Through this momentum, Rahmijati Jahja affirmed her commitment as a member of DPD RI to continue encouraging the creation of spaces for dialogue, tolerance, and togetherness as key assets in realizing harmonious, progressive, and sustainable development in Gorontalo.
