Attending ISMI’s Halal Bi Halal, DPD RI Speaker Sultan: This Is the Era of Malay Awakening

dpd.go.id Speaker of the House of Regional Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI) Sultan Baktiar Najamudin said that Malay is one of the civilizations that pays the most serious attention to human resource development.

This was conveyed by the chairman of the Malay World Islamic World (DMDI) Development Council when giving a speech at the Halal Bi Halal event of the Indonesian Malay Scholars Association (ISMI) in Medan on Sunday (12/04).

"In this place, we can feel the harmony and unity of Malay intellectuals across generations. We have no hesitation in calling this a good sign for the Malay Revival Era," said Sultan, greeted by thunderous applause from the hundreds of participants in attendance.

Sultan emphasized that Halal Bi Halal holds the meaning of unity and understanding in social plurality amidst geopolitical challenges and the climate crisis that is leading to the current social crisis.

"Like a pantun, the Malay people have a flexible, humorous, rational, egalitarian character, and are full of wisdom in communication and interaction. Malays have contributed greatly to the Republic of Indonesia with their unifying language," he explained.

Meanwhile, ISMI's Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Tun Rahmat Syah, said that his party would consolidate all Malay groups and organizations in Indonesia and the world.

"God willing, in the coming years, we hope to hold the ISMI Halal Bi Halal event on an even larger scale. It's time for all Malays to unite and contribute to the Indonesian nation," stressed the national figure, who serves as the Turkish President's Special Envoy.

Also attending the ISMI Halal Bi Halal event were the Deputy Governor of North Sumatra, along with the Chairman of the North Sumatra Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD), several regional heads, and descendants of Malay sultanates. Several senators from the House of Regional Representative of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI) also attended at the invitation of ISMI management.
