Aji Mirni Mawarni Highlights Uneven Distribution of Teachers in East Kalimantan

Samarinda, dpd.go.id – Member of the House of Regional Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI) of East Kalimantan Province, Aji Mirni Mawarni, S.T., M.M., held a Hearing Meeting (RDP) with the Education and Culture Office of East Kalimantan Province and the Education and Culture Office of Samarinda City to discuss the issue of equitable distribution of teachers, especially Government Employee Teachers with Work Agreements (PPPK) in various regions of East Kalimantan.

On that occasion, Aji Mirni Mawarni emphasized that the equitable distribution of PPPK teachers is one of the keys to realizing quality and equitable education for all people of East Kalimantan.

"The equitable distribution of PPPK teachers is a serious concern because it directly relates to the quality of education services in the regions. Concrete steps and synergy are needed between the central government, regional governments, and all stakeholders to ensure equitable placement of PPPK teachers according to the needs of each educational unit. Furthermore, attention must be paid to ensuring that PPPK teachers are placed according to their domicile," said Aji Mirni Mawarni.

In response, the East Kalimantan Provincial Education and Culture Office explained that the main challenge currently faced is the uneven placement of PPPK teachers across regions. This situation has resulted in a number of schools still experiencing teacher shortages in certain subjects, particularly in remote and border areas.

"We continue to periodically map the need for PPPK teachers and coordinate with the central government regarding the formation and placement requirements. We sincerely hope for support from various parties, including the House of Regional Representative of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI), so that the need for PPPK teachers in East Kalimantan can be met gradually and according to the needs of each region," said a representative from the East Kalimantan Provincial Education and Culture Office.

Meanwhile, the Samarinda City Education and Culture Office stated that the need for teachers in Samarinda City continues to experience dynamics along with the increasing number of students, the opening of new educational units, and the increasing number of teachers entering retirement.

"The need for teachers in Samarinda City continues to grow in line with the growth in the number of schools and students. We hope that additional positions and policies will accelerate the equitable distribution of teachers and PPPK teachers, ensuring optimal teaching and learning across all schools," said a representative from the Samarinda City Education and Culture Office.

Previously, Aji Mirni had held a hearing with the East Kalimantan Provincial Regional Personnel Agency (BKD), which stated that one of the obstacles to the distribution of PPPK teachers was the inability to transfer them to other schools. Consequently, many PPPK teachers resigned due to misplacement.

"One of the obstacles to equitable placement of PPPK teachers is the regulation that still limits the transfer process to other educational institutions. This situation has caused some PPPK teachers who are placed far from their domicile to choose to resign due to various considerations, including family and living costs. Therefore, an evaluation of existing regulations is needed to ensure that the placement and transfer mechanisms for PPPK teachers can be more adaptive without compromising the principle of equitable distribution of teacher needs in each region," explained a representative of the Regional Civil Service Agency (BKD) of East Kalimantan Province.

Aji Mirni Mawarni emphasized her commitment to continue monitoring the various educational issues facing East Kalimantan, including promoting policies that can achieve equitable distribution of PPPK teachers, improve the quality of human resources, and ensure equal access to education for all members of society.

Through synergy between the central government, regional governments, and all stakeholders, it is hoped that the problem of equal teacher placement in East Kalimantan can be gradually resolved so that the quality of education throughout the region can continue to improve.
