Achmad Azran Discusses 2029 Election Preparations with DKI Jakarta Provincial KPU

dpd.go.id Jakarta, May 11, 2026 — Achmad Azran conducted a working visit and audience with the General Elections Commission (KPU) of DKI Jakarta Province at the DKI Jakarta Provincial KPU Office on Monday (11/5), in order to inventory oversight materials regarding the implementation of the Election Law while also discussing preparations for the 2029 Election.

The audience was opened by the Chairperson of the DKI Jakarta Provincial KPU, Wahyu Dinata, and took place in a constructive atmosphere. During the meeting, Achmad Azran emphasized that this activity is part of the constitutional duty of the DPD RI to absorb regional aspirations and to ensure that the election stages proceed transparently, professionally, and with integrity.

"The preparedness of election organizers must be supported by strong coordination between the central government, local government, and the election organizers themselves to create a high-quality election," Achmad Azran said.

During the audience, the DKI Jakarta Provincial KPU presented several preparations leading up to the 2029 Election, ranging from updating voter data, verifying political parties through the Political Party Information System, to the planned formulation of electoral districts and the number of regional legislative (DPRD) seats. In addition, administrative adjustments related to the nomenclature change from the Special Capital Region (DKI) of Jakarta to the Special Region of Jakarta (DKJ) were also discussed.

The DPD RI also provided several inputs regarding the strengthening of voter data digitalization, increasing the human resource capacity of election organizers, and the importance of operational infrastructure and facilities support to optimize the institutional performance of the KPU in facing the stages of the 2029 Election.

The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to continue strengthening inter-institutional synergy to support the implementation of a democratic and high-quality 2029 Election. *
