dpd.go.id Aceh Tamiang – Member of the House of Regional Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI) from Aceh, Darwati A. Gani, conducted a humanitarian visit and handed over aid to the community affected by floods and landslides in Sekumur Village, Sekerak District, Aceh Tamiang Regency, during the holy month of Ramadan, Friday (27/02/2026).

The visit demonstrated their concern and commitment as regional representatives to be directly present among the Aceh people who are still feeling the impact of the floods and landslides that occurred late last year. In addition to delivering aid, the visit also served as an opportunity to gather residents' input, particularly regarding relocation issues.

On that occasion, Darwati handed over aid in the form of children's clothing, prayer robes (mukenas), sarongs, koko shirts, robes, towels, and baby bedding. The aid was symbolically received by the Sekumur Village Secretary and the local Village Chief, witnessed by the community.

In her statement, Darwati stated that her presence was not only a form of solidarity during the month of Ramadan but also a moral responsibility to ensure that the community's condition remains a concern.

"Ramadan is a time to strengthen care and solidarity. Our presence here demonstrates our responsibility to ensure the community continues to receive care. We hope this assistance will ease the burden on residents," he said.

He also highlighted the condition of Sekumur Village, which is in the red zone, a flood-prone area. To date, residents remain in the village due to the lack of a suitable relocation site.

Based on information from the field, residents have expressed willingness to relocate to a safer location for the safety of all. However, the relocation process is still pending land preparation by the government.

Responding to this, Darwati emphasized her commitment to accelerating the provision of relocation land.

"If this area has indeed been categorized as a disaster-prone area, then public safety must be a top priority. Residents have agreed to be relocated, so the government needs to prepare suitable and safe land immediately. We will continue to push for and monitor this," he stressed.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of Sekumur Village, representing the community, expressed his appreciation for the attention given.

"We express our gratitude for the Senator's presence and assistance. This assistance is very helpful to our residents, especially in the current situation. We also hope for her support in fighting for expedited relocation," he said.

Darwati A. Gani emphasized that her party will continue to coordinate with the relevant government to ensure long-term solutions for the affected communities, particularly in ensuring the safety and sustainability of safer housing.
