Jakarta, dpd.go.id — Fahira Idris, a member of DPD RI representing Jakarta, called for strengthening tax reform that is fair, adaptive, and supportive of economic growth amid the rapid expansion of the digital economy. The statement was delivered during a working visit with the Regional Offices of the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) South Jakarta I and II, as well as the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) Jakarta, on Tuesday (May 12, 2026), at Mangkuluhur City Office Tower One, South Jakarta.

The working visit was conducted as part of the inventory and oversight process regarding the implementation of Law Number 7 of 2021 on the Harmonization of Tax Regulations (HPP). The meeting was attended by Head of DJP South Jakarta I Regional Office Arif Mahmudin Zuhri, Head of DJP South Jakarta II Regional Office Dr. Imam Arifin, and Head of DJBC Jakarta Regional Office Hendri Harnadi, along with their respective teams.

During the forum, Fahira Idris highlighted several strategic issues related to the implementation of the HPP Law, including the integration of the National Identity Number (NIK) into the Taxpayer Identification Number (NPWP), the impact of the VAT rate increase on the middle class, supervision of turnover-splitting practices among digital MSMEs (UMKM), and readiness for the implementation of carbon tax policies. According to her, tax reform must be accompanied by administrative simplicity and legal certainty to avoid burdening the public and business actors.

“Tax policies must be able to strengthen state revenue while at the same time preserving room for economic growth for the public and MSMEs,” Fahira Idris stated.

During the meeting, the South Jakarta Regional Offices of the Directorate General of Taxes reported 2025 tax revenue realization amounting to Rp110.7 trillion for South Jakarta I and Rp82.7 trillion for South Jakarta II. Meanwhile, the Jakarta Regional Office of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening customs and excise supervision, including efforts to control illegal goods and digital cross-border trade activities.

The results of the working visit will serve as material for DPD RI’s oversight recommendations in promoting a more effective, transparent, and accountable tax governance system to support national development and public welfare.
