Collaborating with Jinju City, DPD RI Drives Regional Agricultural Modernization

Jakarta, dpd.go.id – The House of Regional Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI) is pushing to strengthen cooperation between local governments in Indonesia and the City Government of Jinju, South Korea, particularly in agricultural technology and human resource development. This collaboration is expected to open opportunities for utilizing modern agricultural technology to increase productivity, add value to agricultural products, and boost regional competitiveness.

The Chairperson of the Parliamentary Cooperation Committee (BKSP) of DPD RI, Gusti Farid Hasan Aman, stated that South Korea is a strategic partner for Indonesia, having made significant advancements in the technology and agriculture sectors. According to him, this potential needs to be harnessed to support regional development.

"We see that Jinju City has excellent experience and capacity in developing modern agricultural technology. DPD RI is ready to serve as a bridge to connect this potential with the needs of regions across Indonesia," Gusti Farid said during a meeting with the Mayor of Jinju, South Korea, at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta on Tuesday (June 23).

He added that inter-regional cooperation could serve as a concrete step to accelerate technology transfer while simultaneously enhancing human resource capacity, especially in the agricultural sector.

During the meeting, the Mayor of Jinju, Jo Kyo-il, conveyed that his visit aimed to strengthen relations and explore potential cooperation with various regions in Indonesia. He explained that Jinju City is one of the hubs for modern agriculture and agricultural equipment manufacturing in South Korea, and it stands ready to share its experience in agricultural technology development and the implementation of smart farming.

"We hope to build cooperation with local governments in Indonesia, particularly in agriculture and agricultural technology. We are also open to developing educational cooperation and knowledge exchange regarding smart farming," Jo Kyo-il stated.

Furthermore, Jo Kyo-il expressed his interest in developing sister-city partnerships with several regions in Indonesia. This cooperation is expected to expand collaboration across the economic, educational, cultural, and investment sectors.

In response, Gusti Farid welcomed the various cooperation opportunities offered by the Jinju City Government. He noted that DPD RI would help facilitate communication with regions that possess cooperative potential, especially those with strengths in the agricultural and agritourism sectors.

"The hope is that this collaboration can increase agricultural productivity, accelerate technology adoption, and provide tangible benefits for the welfare of local communities," he concluded.
