As AI Becomes More Advanced, Younger Generations Are Reminded to Remain Steadfast in Pancasila

Ambon, dpd.go.id — The rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) presents both opportunities and challenges for the younger generation. AI technology can facilitate learning, enhance creativity, and open up new opportunities, but character, ethics, and responsibility must accompany its use.

This was one of the issues discussed in the MPR RI 4 Pillars Socialization activity held at Ambon State High School 5, Friday (11/9/2026).

Students and teachers from Ambon State Senior High School 5 attended the event. Participants were encouraged to understand the importance of embracing Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI), and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (Unity in Diversity) as a foundation for addressing technological developments.

In his presentation, Nono Sampono stated that the development of AI should not be viewed solely as a threat. Instead, the younger generation should utilize this technology to improve their skills and prepare for the future.

"AI is a rapidly developing technology today. But no matter how advanced the technology becomes, humans still determine how it is used. Therefore, technological intelligence must go hand in hand with moral intelligence and character," said Nono.

According to him, the younger generation also needs to develop critical thinking skills amidst the increasing ease of producing and disseminating information through AI technology. AI's ability to generate text, images, videos, and audio requires people to be more cautious in receiving and disseminating information.

Students are reminded not to easily believe information circulating on social media without first verifying it. The ability to distinguish between true, manipulative, and false information is a crucial skill for young people in the digital age.

"Don't just be a generation that quickly accepts and shares information. Be a generation that can think critically, verify the accuracy of information, and be responsible for what they convey to others," he said.

In education, AI is also considered a beneficial learning tool when used wisely. Technology can help students find references, understand material, and develop ideas. However, AI should not replace students' thinking processes and creativity.

The values of the Four Pillars, he continued, are increasingly relevant in the face of technological developments. Pancasila serves as a guideline for ensuring that technological progress continues to be utilized for the benefit of humanity and the common good.

Meanwhile, the spirit of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika serves as a reminder that technological developments should not be used to spread hatred, intolerance, or content that can divide unity.

"Technology may be increasingly sophisticated, but human character must not be left behind. Indonesia's young generation must be able to master technology while still possessing integrity, empathy, responsibility, and a spirit of unity," Nono Sampono continued.

During the socialization event, participants also had the opportunity to share their views on the use of AI in education and the various challenges they face in the digital era.

This activity is expected to provide students with an understanding that becoming the future generation is not enough just by mastering science and technology.

"Indonesia's young generation must be able to combine intelligence, creativity, character and national values," concluded Nono Sampono.
