dpd.go.id - As part of his electoral district visits (kundapil) and Ramadan Safari, Andi Waris Halid held a series of meetings with the community in three regencies in South Sulawesi: Bone, Sinjai, and Bulukumba. This activity served as an opportunity to directly gather community input, strengthen ties during the holy month of Ramadan, and distribute basic food packages.
At one of the meeting's agenda items, Andi engaged in a dialogue with the Early Childhood Education (PAUD) mothers and teachers, who are managers and educators. The meeting took place in a warm and open atmosphere, with the educators sharing various challenges they face in the field.
One of the main issues that emerged in nearly every region visited was the lack of educational facilities for early childhood education (PAUD), particularly regarding computers and digital devices, which were still considered very limited. PAUD mothers and teachers reported that amid the increasingly technologically adaptive demands for learning, many PAUD institutions in the regions still lack adequate computer equipment, both for administrative needs and to support digital learning for children.
In addition to limited technological facilities, PAUD administrators also reported that the physical condition of school buildings remains concerning. In some locations, classrooms are damaged, with leaking roofs, often disrupting teaching and learning activities during the rainy season. Many PAUDs also have only very rudimentary play facilities, despite the fact that play facilities are a vital part of the early childhood learning process.
Responding to these various aspirations, Andi said that the problems faced by PAUD managers were important notes that needed serious attention.
"Early childhood education is the foundation of a child's education. If facilities are limited even in the early stages, it will certainly affect the quality of their learning. Therefore, we need to encourage greater support, both for improving school infrastructure and providing more modern learning facilities," he said.
He emphasized that the Ramadan Safari and the election campaign were intended to directly hear the voices of the people, so that the various policies and programs championed would truly be born from real needs on the ground.
This series of visits will continue across the three districts, with dialogues with various community elements, education figures, and other local communities. The insights gathered during these visits are expected to inform improvements in the quality of public services, particularly in the basic education sector and to strengthen the capacity of early childhood education institutions in the regions.
