Jakarta, dpd.go.id – Commemorating the 22nd Anniversary of the House of Regional Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI) on October 1, 2026, Agita Nurfianti, a member of Committee III of the DPD RI representing the West Java constituency, invited all ranks of the DPD RI to use this momentum to reflect on the institution's journey while strengthening their commitment to championing the interests of local communities and regions.

Agita stated that the existence of the DPD RI is a vital part of Indonesia's constitutional system, as it brings regional aspirations to the national stage. Therefore, the 22nd anniversary momentum should serve as a reminder that the institutional efforts of the DPD RI must continuously stem from the real needs of people in the regions.

“The 22nd Anniversary of DPD RI is a momentum for us to reinforce our commitment that every regional aspiration must be heard, fought for, and safeguarded so that it can become part of national policies that impact the public,” said Agita amidst her schedule while attending the 3rd and 4th Extraordinary Plenary Sessions of the DPD RI on Thursday (Oct 1) at the Nusantara V Building, MPR/DPR/DPD RI Parliamentary Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta.

According to Agita, regional development challenges are becoming increasingly complex. Issues spanning education, religion, healthcare, social protection, employment, tourism, youth, sports, and beyond require synergy between the central government and regional governments.

In this context, the DPD RI holds a strategic position to continuously absorb public aspirations, oversee policy execution, and provide considerations as well as input during the formulation of national policies concerning regional interests.

“We want the presence of the DPD RI to feel increasingly beneficial to the public. The aspirations gathered from the regions must not remain mere notes; they must be continuously safeguarded through the institutional functions that the DPD RI possesses,” she said.

Agita, who also serves as Vice Chairperson III of the Regional Legislation Committee (BULD) of the DPD RI, added that strengthening central-regional relations remains an area requiring sustained attention. In her view, national policies need to account for the diverse conditions, potential, and needs of each region.

“Every region has distinct characteristics and challenges. Therefore, national policy must view regional conditions more holistically so that implementation runs effectively and yields real benefits for the public,” Agita remarked.

She also stressed the importance of building stronger communication and collaboration among the DPD RI, the central government, regional governments, and the public. Such collaboration is necessary to ensure that regional issues are accurately identified and jointly resolved.

For Agita, the DPD RI's 22-year journey is also a momentum to strengthen public trust in the regional representative body.

“Public trust is a mandate. Therefore, every DPD RI member must remain actively present among the people, listen to their aspirations, understand local issues, and convey those voices to the national level,” Agita noted.

She expressed hope that moving forward, the DPD RI will become increasingly capable of fulfilling its role as a regional representative body by enhancing the quality of its legislative work, oversight, advisory input, and public aspiration gathering.

“May the DPD RI grow stronger in voicing regional interests, stay closer to the public, and continue contributing toward achieving more equitable and just development across Indonesia. Happy 22nd Anniversary to DPD RI—from the regions for Indonesia,” Agita concluded.
