dpd.go.id Yogyakarta - The youngest member of the DPD RI DIY and also the Presidium of the Indonesian Women's Parliamentary Caucus (KPP-RI), R.A. Yashinta Sekarwangi Mega responded to the case of violence against children by caregivers at the Little Aresha Daycare in Umbulharjo Yogyakarta.

As a young politician who is actively involved in the issue of anti-violence against children and women, Yashinta condemned the violence that occurred and asked law enforcement to take firm action against the perpetrators.

"I am deeply angry and condemn all forms of violence against children, especially when this occurs in a daycare center that is supposed to provide protection and education to children. Law enforcement must have the courage to take decisive action, and this case must be thoroughly investigated," Yashinta asserted when asked for her opinion on the Little Aresha Daycare violence case.

Yashinta also fully supports the swift steps taken by the Mayor of Yogyakarta, Hasto Wardoyo, and the Yogyakarta City Government to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of all childcare facilities in Yogyakarta.

"Of course, I fully support Mr. Hasto and the Yogyakarta City Government in conducting sweeps of all childcare facilities in the city. In fact, if similar cases are found again, it would be better to revoke their permits and impose strict sanctions immediately," said Yashinta.

Yashinta also pledged to use her authority as Presidium of the Indonesian Parliamentary Women's Caucus to tighten oversight of daycare centers throughout Indonesia. She also urged the public to actively participate in oversight and not to be afraid.

"I am committed to inviting the Indonesian Child Protection Agency (KPP RI), an association of female members of the House of Representatives (DPR) and the House of the Regional Representatives (DPD), and the Ministry of Women and Children's Protection to meet immediately to tighten oversight of daycare centers throughout Indonesia. I also urge the public to participate in monitoring and not be afraid to speak up if they find anything amiss in a childcare center. I am also open to hearing complaints at any time," Yashinta explained.

The case is currently ongoing, and the investigation is ongoing. Thirteen suspects have been named in this case, but public oversight and government evaluation are needed to ensure a similar incident does not recur.*
