Riau Islands, dpd.go.id - Member of the DPD RI of Riau Islands Province, Dwi Ajeng Sekar Respaty, SH., M.Kn., highlighted the importance of strengthening the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) of the Republic of Indonesia in facing the increasingly complex challenges of managing and auditing state finances.

This was conveyed by Dwi Ajeng when Members of the DPD RI Committee IV explored the ideas and capacities of the prospective members of the BPK RI during a two-day in-depth process held in Jakarta, September 26-27, 2026.

According to Dwi Ajeng, strengthening the BPK is not enough if it is only supported by technical audit capacity, but also needs to be directed at the institution's ability to encourage improvements in state and regional financial governance in a sustainable manner.

"We're not just looking at the technical capabilities of the audit, but also how the BPK can ensure that the audit results provide real benefits for improving state and regional financial governance," said Dwi Ajeng.

She believes the increasingly complex dynamics of state financial management require an audit institution with strong capacity and credibility, capable of maintaining the quality and relevance of its audit function. Therefore, deepening the capacity and ideas of prospective BPK members is crucial to ensuring that future BPK leadership is capable of meeting these challenges.

In addition to capacity, Dwi Ajeng emphasized the importance of integrity and independence as the foundation in carrying out the BPK's mandate.

"A strong BPK requires leadership with integrity and independence. These two elements are essential foundations for the state's financial audit function to operate credibly and instill public trust," he stressed.

Dwi Ajeng added that the in-depth process of examining prospective BPK members is part of the DPD RI's institutional responsibility to comprehensively examine the capacity, ideas, and commitment of the candidates in strengthening the audit function and governance of state finances.

Based on the results of the fit and proper test, Committee IV of the DPD RI has determined 10 candidates to fill two positions as members of the BPK RI for the 2026–2031 period, which will be recommended to the DPR RI.
