Yogyakarta, dpd.go.id — Member of Committee III of the DPD RI from the Special Region of Yogyakarta, Ahmad Syauqi Soeratno, received aspirations from representatives of parents whose children were victims in the Little Aresha Daycare case, located on Pakel Baru Utara Street, Sorosutan, Umbulharjo, Yogyakarta City. The case occurring at the daycare has been under the spotlight for the past few days. During an audience held at the DPD RI DIY Office on Saturday (25/4), the parents shared concerning conditions and experiences regarding the improper treatment of their children.
Ahmad Syauqi emphasized his commitment to overseeing this case alongside the victims' parents, particularly in ensuring protection for the children's health as well as their psychological and mental development. “There is no tolerance for such actions. I, along with all the victims' parents, will continue to monitor and supervise this process until it is completed, and take various steps to ensure the case resolution proceeds proportionately,” he asserted.
Ahmad Syauqi added that the Special Region of Yogyakarta, as a City of Education, should be a safe place for shaping the character of the future generation. However, the discovery of cases like this remains a serious concern.
“The aspirations conveyed by the victims' parents are truly concerning for all of us. Children, who are entrusted to us by Allah SWT to be guarded and cared for, were instead treated improperly,” he expressed.
During this audience, Ahmad Syauqi also invited representatives from the Regional Child Protection Commission (KPAID) to provide explanations regarding the steps taken in the last 24 hours. Additionally, KPAID shared information about previous incidents, providing a more comprehensive overview of the case. He appreciated KPAID for its active role in assisting the victims. Appreciation was also extended to the Yogyakarta City Police (Polresta) for the firm steps taken in handling this case.
“We are pushing for this legal process to run until completion. The role of KPAID is also crucial in ensuring that the psychological recovery process for the victimized children can proceed well in the future,” he said.
Furthermore, Ahmad Syauqi reminded that if the legal process determines this case as a criminal offense, then according to applicable regulations, the children as victims are entitled to restitution. This is important to support the children's psychological rehabilitation and mental health process.
He hopes that the fulfillment of these rights can ease the burden on parents who are currently feeling the emotional impact of the incident, while ensuring that the children continue to receive their rights to proper education and care. In closing, Ahmad Syauqi invited all elements of society in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, including stakeholders in the field of child protection, to jointly oversee this case.
“I invite all elements of society to ensure the legal process runs properly, the psychological recovery of the children is carried out optimally, and the continuity of our children's education remains guaranteed,” he concluded.
